Scene: Shinji, Asuka and Mari walking in a park in the night. As they talk, two shadowy figures make an appearance. Later, as Asuka arrives home, she begins to hear strange voices. She is then visited by a little girl, Mari, who says that she has something to tell her.
Scene: Shinji and Rei working on their EVAs in a laboratory, while they discuss the changes in EVA unit design. Later, as the two of them work, the SDF-3 arrives at their location.
Scene: Asuka, Shinji, and Rei are at the train station when a bunch of school girls, accompanied by Rei's mother, arrive. Rei sees a little girl, whose mother is worried that she isn't home. As they leave, a mysterious voice calls out to Shinji, asking him to report to the SDF-3.
Scene: Shinji, Rei and Asuka are in Asuka's home, where Asuka talks to Rei and Shinji about the world in which they now live. The two girls then dress for the beginning of a school day and leave the house, while Asuka's mother watches them leave through the window.
Scene: In the SDF-3's bridge, a major explosion occurs. At the same time, Shinji finds himself in Asuka's world and is surprised by how young and beautiful she is. Rei appears in the bridge and says that the SDF-3 must have been attacked by some sort of black holes. Shinji is then confronted by a being known as an Angel. The two begin to fight, while Asuka watches through the window. As the two fight, Shinji feels something pushing him to the ground. After the fight is over, Shinji sees that Rei has disappeared.
Scene: A male humanoid EVA (called "N'EvA") appears and talks to Shinji. As the conversation goes on, N'EvA explains that humans are not normal, but that human life is impossible without them. N'EvA then reveals himself to be Rei's true self, and Shinji wonders if he has finally lost Rei, because he knew her as N'EvA. After a brief exchange, Shinji and N'EvA leave the world through a black hole.
Scene: Shinji is sitting in a room where Shinji, Asuka and Rei are sleeping. N'EvA appears and tells Shinji to wake up. They then make their way to Earth's surface, where N'EvA says that he has come from another world.
